Conversation with John Molloy PM of DPD City of Chicago

At roughly 5:00 PM today John Molloy from the City DPD returned my calls at my office. I spoke with John for about 20 minutes.

John Molloy believes he can get us a sit-down with the prospective developer in the next few weeks. He added that he's still talking with city legal team about us gaining access and has not been given a solid answer yet if they will okay our access to the theater to see it for ourselves. (By the way..the prospective developer has seen the Journal article for sure, it was the copy that I had mailed to John) John says he'll be in touch with me directly in the next 2 weeks regarding setting an appointment with the prospective developer. From what I understand the developer has other projects he's working on and will need a little while to shake some time loose. Speaking of the J article, John reassures me that the chili parlor is safe. I told him I was happy to hear that and I only brought it up because the fellas who were passing by and being grumpy(see Journal article) were heading into the chili parlor. He laughed loudly. He then told me that the he is actually happy to see that there is real support for keeping the building, because he's always wanted to, but had a lot of people were telling him to just tear it down when he first took over the project.

Another message left for John Molloy DPD

This a.m. at 10:39 a.m. I left another message for John Molloy at the Department of Planning and Development for the City of Chicago. I have been trying to gain access to the Ramova Theater building since our first actual conversation occurred on 8/30/05 at 2 p.m. On August 30th, I was told by John that he would try to get me into the building and try to get a meeting for me to speak with the prospective developer. As of today, Sept. 22, 2005, I have not been given a firm confirmation about when I could gain access to take photos and when I could meet with the prospective developer. This week I have called John Molloy a total of 7 times and have left 3 messages (2 yesterday-one a.m. and one p.m.) and one today. John did call me on Monday at 12:35pm and left a message that he was returning my calls from last week (I had called and left 3 messages last week too and didn't hear back from him at all). John did not say that he had access or information for me in this message on Monday, 9/19/05, his message was simply that he was returning my calls. John has my cell and work number to reach me at daily. I'm hoping to hear from him today.

Alderman Balcer's office

Today makes my 4th time (roughly once a week) that I have spoken with Kelly at Alderman Balcer's office since 8/30/05 ( I have called other times and gotten voice mail, but not left a message). Kelly reassures me that the Alderman is "just busy" and can't make the time to speak with me in person regarding our Save The Ramova campaign, but that she is trying to clear some time for us to meet in person. I have assured Kelly that I just want to make the Alderman aware of our groups position and efforts and basically find out where he stands regarding the Ramova's future. Kelly claims she will call me to schedule an appt asap.
