The Sisters at Maria High School would be so proud!
This is really cool and I had to share it! The following information was sent to me by Jim Indreika, a fan of theater history and the Ramova.
A copy of an article from a book published in Lithuania mentions our efforts and believe it or not calls me a hero(in) for my efforts related to the Ramova. I am not alone folks! Labas diena, Maureen-

That's cool. Congrats on the mention.
The book mentioned is "Lithuanian Traces in America".
It would be great to seal the front window of the R, so that it wouldn't be damaged more in winter.
I tell John Molloy from the city about the front window every darn time I talk with him, he tells me he will get someone out there and.....well, you know what I am going to say! It's very frustrating. There is another opening on the south side of the building that is troubling too. I feel like I'm yelling into the wind. Sorry, Maureen-
I think I have seen said opening on the South end. I don't know who this developer is, but I hope they and the city get to work on this sooner instead of later. I don't know how much more damage that building can take.
Amen JTB.
I just walked past the theater on Friday night. It looks like they've finally covered the front window. At least that's been taken care of.
As a young boy growing up in Chicago in the 50's, the Ramova Theater was the most visited for movie entertainment. I and my friends would walk from 25th Place and 26th Street Emerald Ave. area to the theater for matinees on the weekends and during summer vacation. I remember when I turned to an age that allowed me to pay the full price for admission (I think that was 12 or 13 Years old), I told the ticket taker that I am an adult now. She looked at me and said "you don't look that old" and charged me the lower price anyway. It was kind of a blow to my young ego. However, I always will remember the fun we had going to the Ramova. It is that piece of Americana that should be preserved.
yes, it's closed up FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
