Access rescheduled by Alderman

Sorry to say that I received a call from Kelly at the Ward Office yesterday to tell me that the Alderman has been called out of town on business, so we are not going to get into the Ramova as planned.

We are working on a new date to visit the interior of the Ramova asap with the Alderman and John Molloy from DPD.

More as it unfolds.

Great meeting at Benton House 3/22/06!

Wow!!!, what a great meeting at Benton House on 3/22/06.

Thanks again to Mark and Joyce Lennon and Maggie for allowing us to use their beautiful facilities. Speaking of Benton House, everyone reading this should explore all of the wonderful programs offered at BH and appreciate what they offer our community. Also, they have a food pantry that could use donations, so please give what you can Please contact the folks at BH for any details if you'd like to help or would like information about the programs they offer.

Our meeting consisted of getting to know the sizeable group who showed up (see picture of some of our supporters on the front page of our site) and setting up volunteer opportunties for those who would like to jump in with both feet to help save the Ramova. Thank you so much for offering to help to make this campaign a successful one.

We will be having another meeting in April and will be spreading awareness of our group via our volunteers from now on.

See you at the next meeting!

We are going to be given access to the Ramova!

Great news!

I received a call from John Molloy of the City's Department of Planning and Development. John tells me that he has spoken with Alderman Balcer and they have found a way for us to enter and see the inside of the Ramova for ourselves! Finally!!!! John is going to get back in touch with me asap to set a date. I am really trying to get in before our public meeting on 3/22. Wish me luck!

John also tells me he will set a date with the prospective developer after we see the inside of the theater. This too has been a long time coming, so hopefully it will be in the very near future too.

I'm very excited to finally be able to go into the Ramova. It's been many years and I can't wait. :-)

More soon..

Thank you to Steve Cochran, Rick Kogan, Dave at The Polo Cafe and the folks at WGN 720AM

Thanks again to Steve Cochran, Rick Kogan, The Ramova Brothers, and Dave Samber of the Polo Cafe for allowing us to speak about the STR campaign yesterday on WGN 720AM.

I believe it went very well and I have received some comments and emails from those of you who feel the same way. :-)

There should be a podcast of the broadcast and a link to the STR site coming soon on the WGN website, www.wgnradio.com. I'll post when I have more information.

Cheers,

Thank you Joe at Video Strip!

I'd like to thank Joe Trutin, owner of the Video Strip at 3307 S Archer #773-927-4307, for going above and beyond the call of duty! Joe has been obtaining petition signatures and spreading the word about STR for some time now.

Joe rules! Go see him for hard to find DVDs and great service!

The store is great, but don't just take our word for it - check out the store reviews on City Search!

Head down to Video Strip and tell them Maureen sent you!
