Founded in 2011 by Save The Ramova President Maureen F. Sullivan and Vice-President Rob Warmowski, Friends Of South Halsted is a new organization under whose umbrella the Ramova project will continue. Save The Ramova was founded in 2005 and has been funded entirely by STR founders Maureen Sullivan and Rob Warmowski. On our own dime, we took our cause to the airwaves, to the newspapers, to the political offices and schools. We brought top talent to the project including a legend in theater restoration and graduate students from the Illinois Institute of Technology. We made the Ramova a campaign issue, we ensured the Ramova's city owners understood the neighborhood's support of the theater, and we never let up in promoting our vision of a restored Ramova leading the wider restoration of Bridgeport and the surrounding community.
